Charity of the Year 2019/20 – Kangaroos!

Announcing our charity of the year for 2019/20 – Kangaroos!

Kangaroos is a local charity which supports children and young adults from age 6 upwards with a wide range of learning difficulties and special needs including autism, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, challenging behaviour and complex medical conditions.

Since its infancy in 1994, Kangaroos has developed its diverse range of activities through consultation with our young members and their families. They take a person centered approach offering activities, which as well as being enjoyable, seek to improve and enhance the lives of our members. Families also benefit by having a well-earned break knowing that their young person is being well cared for. They run a range of different clubs for specific ages groups and activities are run from a range of local community centres as well as trips out to many exciting and fun venues.

2019 is a special year for Kangaroos, as they are celebrating their 25th anniversary, and to mark this event they are launching a special fundraising campaign to raise £100,000 to help create some wonderful lasting memories for children and young people with special needs. We hope to be able to support them in this endeavour!

Tisshaws is supporting Kangafest, a celebratory day taking place in July 2019 in Burgess Hill and we will also be volunteering at some other events held by Kangaroos later in the year.
