We are proud to have supported many local charities and events over the years. This has been through donations, fundraising initiatives, sponsorship and by giving our time.
We actively promote and support our staff to get involved in the local community and are long term supporters of our local hospice, St Peter & St James, along with local schools in their fundraising efforts. We have donated money to Kangaroos and Mid Sussex Riding for the Disabled to help them continue their valuable work.
Our Charity of the Year 2023, is Haywards Heath Foodbank. With the current cost of living crisis, we feel this is a way to help as many people as possible.
We have also initiated our own Community Champion Awards, recognising, and rewarding unsung heroes of our community with £50 vouchers from local businesses, helping to support both the winners and our hospitality venues and retailers.
We welcome opportunities to sponsor local events and organisations and would be happy to hear from you if you have a proposal that you would like us to consider.
A skydive is an event to remember and when we heard that our practice manager Sam’s husband, Chris was going to be jumping out of a plane to raise money for the Sue Ryder charity, we were happy to sponsor this exciting event. This wonderful charity supports those approaching the end of life and those living with grief, so nobody has to die or grieve alone.
Delighted to sponsor our long time working partner Claire Crouch, who is walking 100km across Normandy in tribute to those who fought in WW2 during the year we commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. All money raised will go to the to the Army Benevolent Fund, a national charity which supports our soldiers, veterans and their families.
We were delighted to make a donation to both the Brighton and Crawley Legal Walks this year. These fundraising 10km walks are undertaken by teams of local legal professionals to raise money in support of the provision of free legal advice centres in our region.
To date, the Crawley Walk has raised over £3,750 for Citizens Advice in West Sussex, while the Brighton Walk has raised over £5,200 to help Citizens Advice in Brighton & Hove, along with BHT Sussex, Possibility People and Money Advice Plus.
Wonderful effort!
Last week we enjoyed a visit to the lovely Grove Garden in Clair Park to learn more about how our donation to this valuable community resource is being put to good use. A community garden for the over 50s, it is a lovely place to relax, make new friends, enjoy a free Tai Chi class or try some Laughter Yoga. More information about this local charity can be found here https://www.grovegarden.uk

Huge congratulations to Kate Huxley winner of a Community Champion Award 2024. Kate volunteers for Bentwoods Hub a fantastic community resource in Haywards Heath. As part of a community larder initiative, each day 250kg of food and produce that would otherwise go to waste, is collected and distributed to support local people.
Kate coordinates all the community larder volunteers and collections, which is a particularly difficult role as it takes 37 volunteers, and 9 supermarkets totalling 48 collections a week to make the community larder work. Kate takes full ownership of this role even making sure it is covered should she be away.
Thank you Kate for all your hard work in volunteering to help make our local community a better place.

As part of our Community Champions 2024 campaign, we are looking for three Community Champions to reward with a £50 voucher from a local hospitality venue.
We first started the awards during the height of the pandemic in 2020 and were touched by the nominations we received highlighting all the wonderful ways in which people pulled together.
Since then, we have run the awards every year to celebrate and reward those who give of their time and energy to make our community a better place to live.
So, please send us nominations of those you’d like to celebrate, telling us all the fabulous things they have done to make a difference to the lives of others in our local community.
Deadline for nominations is Friday 7th June 2024. After this date we will draw three names at random to be our lucky winners.
Email your nominations to [email protected] with Community Champions in the subject heading or write to us at 3 Hazelgrove Road, Haywards Heath RH16 3PH.
Haywards Heath Foodbank has been our chosen Charity of the Year and our recent visit confirmed to us what a valuable community resource and service it provides. The volunteers are incredible, giving of their time and working hard to help those struggling to put food on the table.
We were also impressed by the well-stocked Baby Bank, which provides clothing, equipment, nappies, milk, and toys to those most in need. Unlike the foodbank, there is no need to have a referral to collect items from the Baby Bank.
Open for collections and donations on Tuesdays 11-1 and Thursdays 10-12, you can also call them on 07884 106719 for more information.
We have long supported the fantastic work of Circus Starr who bring the magic and excitement of the circus to children and families living in difficult circumstances and are happy to make our annual donation to this worthwhile cause.
We are delighted that one of our Community Champions, Sue a volunteer gardener at St Peter & St James Hospice, is such a worthy winner of her reward. Here’s what the hospice said about Sue:
Sue has been a Volunteer Gardener with St Peter & St James Hospice for 15 years. Sue spent many years as the lead gardener, planning, organising and supporting the gardening team. She recently stepped down from this role but is still an active member of the team, turning up every Friday morning whatever the weather. Sue accepted the award on behalf of all of the gardening team and thanked them for their unwavering support for her during her time as team leader.
Sue, who loves gardening, started volunteering at St Peter and St James Hospice in response to a plea for more gardeners. She saw it as a way of thanking the hospice movement for the care they had given her father when he was dying a couple of years earlier.
Delighted to be able to contribute a Christmas Hamper to the Warden Park Christmas Fair Raffle, to help raise funds for one of our local schools.

Your reward vouchers are on their way!

What’s more, over 38,500kg of food and other items has been donated by the local community, to help ensure that people are not going hungry.
