We are delighted to announce that our next Community Champion award is going to three individuals from the Cuckfield Volunteers Network.
While there were numerous amazing volunteers that were involved these three particularly spent a lot of time in the background doing work that may not have been visible to all and deserve some recognition.
Barbara King – Barbara was responsible for setting up the Cuckfield Support Network. She liaised with the Haywards Heath group as they ran the overarching phone line. She checked in with GPs and all in all, was the lynchpin for the admin team around the group. Barbara was also involved in supporting the foodbank collections.
Anthony Notaras – Anthony despite being busy with 4 children worked and helped behind the scenes setting up the database, monitoring the inbox and setting up and collecting the initial relevant documents from people for the Cuckfield Support Network.
Sally Nakajima – Sally was a key player on the admin side and mailbox monitoring for the group. Sally has also gone on to spearhead the foodbank collection initiative which has currently to date collected over 3000 items from numerous drop off points around the village.
In recognition of their work Tisshaws has given each of them a £50 voucher from a local independent company. Sally received a £50 voucher from Pruners Hair and Beauty, Barbara a voucher from Lingfield Coffee Works and Anthony a voucher from Zeytin Turkish Café & Restaurant. We hope this goes a small way to show our thanks for their commitment to the community and they enjoy their well-deserved rewards.
The trio along with the other volunteers have done a fantastic job of providing support particularly to the vulnerable in Cuckfield during the Covid Pandemic.
