Family Court Fees to rise from April 2025

To reflect the rise in inflation, from 1st April 2025 the Ministry of Justice has announced an increase in court and tribunal fees. It is hoped that the additional income raised can be used to improve the service of His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) and to subsidise services which do not include a fee.

The Family Court fees affected include:

  • Applications to start divorce proceeding, civil partnership dissolutions and nullity proceedings, which increase from £593 to £612
  • Applications to begin financial remedy proceedings when couples in a marriage or civil partnership cannot reach an agreement, which rise from £303 to £313.
  • Applications to formalise agreements with a Financial Consent Order, which increase from £58 to £60
  • Applications for Orders under the Children Act 1989, including Child Arrangements Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders and Special Issue Orders, which increase from £255 to £263
  • General applications within proceedings on notice to the other party, which increase from £184 to £190
