We’re delighted to announce that our charity for 2023 is Haywards Heath Foodbank, to which we will make a monthly donation. Since April 2022, our local Foodbank has helped over 2,800 people with food parcels. What’s more, over 38,500kg of food and other items has been donated by the local community, to help ensure that people are not going hungry.
After consulting with the Foodbank, it was decided that a regular financial contribution was the best way in which we could help, and we are very happy to be able to support the foodbank in this way.
Part of the Trussell Trust Foodbank Network, Haywards Heath has over 30 volunteers, who are the driving force behind the foodbanks. Other ways of helping to support this valuable service include fundraising initiatives and through donations.
While the Foodbank currently has plenty of cereal, baked beans, pasta and tea bags, items urgently needed (Jan 2023) include washing powder, gel or tablets, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, rice, long life fruit juice, baby nappies and dog food.
Others items needed include tins of soup, vegetables, meat, tomatoes, fish, rice puddings and custard, as well as long life milk, small jars of instant coffee, biscuits, chocolate treats and long life sponge puddings.
